“The American War of Independence (1775-1783) served as a harsh lesson to the British Empire that the dominions they controlled if treated improperly, would always be susceptible to revolution.” – Luke Tomes
This week in a masterful stroke, the enemy has again divided our country. How much more will it take before we take notice of his plan?
The Bible mentions much about Satan, but one should never forget the role God allows him to play here on earth. The apostle Paul calls him “the prince of the power of the air” (Ephesians 2:2) and “the god of this world” (2 Corinthians 4:4). Jesus even referred to him as “the ruler of this world” (John 12:31).
“He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” John 8:44
However, the great deceiver has already been defeated!
“They overcame the enemy by the blood of the lamb and the word of their testimony.” Revelation 12:11
Jesus and our raw stories filled with pain, grit, and hope win in the end!
If you’ve ever had a conversation with someone who faced an unexpected pregnancy, you know their story is complicated. I have never met someone in this situation who took a light-hearted approach to their circumstance or the decisions they faced, whether in the moment or in hindsight. Simply put, no one’s story is ever black-and-white. That’s important to remember this week and moving forward.
Maybe it is time for a revolution. Are we finally fed up enough with being divided by the enemy? Do you think people have had enough of not being properly treated? Maybe it’s time we tried something different to outsmart the “old snake.”
What if we start with loving and treating each other properly, compassionately, and gracefully. Maybe then issues would become people, and we would remember that we are the people Jesus came to rescue. All of us.
“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because He has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free.” ~Jesus (Luke 4:11)
We will get through this together!
In His service and at yours!
